An access log is a thorough list of all the files which were accessed by the guests of a certain site. Every file that was requested for whatever reason will be listed, so if you have one webpage with 3 embedded images, one video and one embedded text file, as an example, the access log shall contain a total of 6 entries - one for each of the 6 files that were accessed when the visitor opened the webpage. A log normally offers the file name and path, the date, in addition to the visitor’s OS, web browser and IP address. Occasionally you may also find the referrer sites that sent the visitors to your site. The info an access log file includes is in human-readable plain text format. It may be processed by special software on a desktop machine and used to write reports on the efficiency of a website, in addition to the web stats which your server may have produced.
Access Log Manager in Web Hosting
Our custom-built Hepsia CP includes a section focused on various logs and the access logs are one of them. When you sign in to your web hosting
account and visit this section, you shall find a list of all the domains
and subdomains that you have. All it takes to enable the generation of access logs is to click on a button that'll be available next to every single domain/subdomain. If the option is enabled, you will see a download link as well as the file size so far, so you shall be able to save the file to your personal computer and look at it or process it with some program. Enabling or disabling the logs becomes effective immediately, so if you no longer need one, you can stop it with a click from the same section of the Control Panel. You will still have the ability to access the already developed content by simply clicking on the Download link.
Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Hosting
When you have a semi-dedicated server
account with our company, it shall not take more than several clicks to trigger the generation of access logs by our system if you require them. The function may be enabled via the Hepsia web hosting Control Panel and this could be done individually for each domain or subdomain you have in your account. When you log in and navigate to the Access/Error Logs section of the Control Panel, you'll find a list of all the hostnames with an On/Off button next to each one. One click shall activate the log generation and another one shall deactivate it, so you can control this function with great simplicity. A Download link in the same section will permit you to save the compiled content as a text file, which you can then use on your computer system. Whether or not the logs are disabled, you will still be able to download the data that has been previously generated.
